Mike Mahoney, a Dowling High School (Iowa) graduate, spent the 2000-2003 seasons in the Chicago Cubs system, making his Major League debut at Wrigley Field in 2000. He spent parts of 2 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs (2000 & 2002). Mahoney was a shortstop in college before he converted to catcher at Creighton University.

Casey Blake, a 1992 graduate of Indianola (Iowa) High School and a 3-time All-American at Wichita State, was drafted in the 7th round of the 1996 free agent draft. Since joining the Cleveland Indians, Blake has established himself as one of the best all around 3rd baseman in the Major Leagues. 

Brendan Donnelly burst onto the Major League baseball scene in 2002 after spending 11 years in the Minor Leagues. Donnelly played a key roll on the 2002 Anaheim Angles' World Championship team. He posted a 2.17 ERA in 2002 (46 games). Donnelly furthered his success in 2003 with a 1.58 ERA over 63 games posting 2 wins and 3 saves. He was a 27th round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 1992 draft out of Mesa State College.

Paul Shuey, a 1989 graduate of Millbrook High School (North Carolina) was a 1st team All-ACC selection at the University of North Carolina. Shuey was the 2nd overall selection in the 1992 amateur draft taken by the Cleveland Indians. Entering his 12th season in the Major Leagues in 2004, Shuey has established an amazing 45-27 career record with 22 saves while pitching with the Indians & Dodgers.

Mike Wuertz made his Major League debut with the Chicago Cubs in 2004. Wuertz, an 11th round selection by the Cubs in 1997, attended high school in Austin, Minnesota. Mike recorded his first career save at Wrigley Field vs the Chicago White Sox in a 4-2 Cubs victory on July 3rd, 2004.

Todd Sears, a 1994 graduate of Ankeny (Iowa) High School was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 3rd round of the 1997 free agent draft. Sears attended the University of Nebraska where he was a 1st team All-Big 12 performer. Sears joined the San Diego Padres organization  in 2003.

Joel Hanrahan was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 2000 draft out of Norwalk (Iowa) High School. Hanrahan has developed into one of the top pitching prospects in Minor League Baseball.

Benj Sampson, an Ankeny (Iowa) High School graduate, was drafted by the Minnesota Twins organization. Sampson posted a 4-2 career Major League record in parts of 2 seasons with the Twins (1998 & 1999).

Scott Pose was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1989 amateur draft out of the University of Arkansas. In 1993, Pose started in center field for the Florida Marlins' first game in franchise history. He spent parts of 4 seasons in the Major Leagues with 3 different clubs (Marlins 1993, Yankees 1997, Royals 1999 & 2000).

Nate Teut played amateur baseball for Paton-Churdan (Iowa) High School & Iowa State University. Teut was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 4th round of the 1997 draft. He pitched in the Major Leagues for the Florida Marlins in 2002.

Don Wengert pitched 7 seasons in the Major Leagues (1995-2001) with the A's, Padres, Cubs, Royals, Braves & Pirates. The journeyman posted 14 wins & 3 saves in his career. Wengert won a career high 7 games for the A's in 1996. He played college baseball for Iowa State University.
